Short Description: First Flight
|
|
Today was the day Miss Tango took flight for the first time.
Professional test pilot, Steve Young, today took Miss Tango up for the first time, and she performed almost flawlessly. Wow, what a giant relief to see her in the air, and with no dramas.
Steve performed quite a few specific flight tests with only two minor issues: 1: The aircraft wants to roll left, requiring a small amount of right stick to hold her level. 2: The flap motor tripped the circuit breaker after a few operations.
We discussed the rolling tendancy and agreed that lowering the left flap ever so slightly should correct it.I'll make this adjustment and evaluate the impact in subsequent test flights.
I also realised that I set the flap motor circuit breaker based on current load that I measured while sitting in the hangar. I forgot about the significant airflow loading that is added when in flight. I've increased the electronic VP-X circuit breaker setting from 3 amps to 4.
