Short Description: ELT - final installation and test
|
I registered my Artex 345 Emergency Location Transmitter (ELT) with the Canadian Beacon Registry as called for in the regulations without too much trouble. It had been programmed for Canada by the Aircraft Spruce facility in California which required a "change of ownership" step to take place, so though I started the process on line the Registry staff had to get involved. Interestingly in my Artex kit I also got a handheld Personal Locator Beacon (PLB), also programmed for Canada, but that I could register myself on line as it did not have to have its ownership changed. Anyway, I put the ELT into its previously installed cradle in the aft baggage compartment and within 5 minutes past the hour (the approved testing time) I hit the test switch and got a nice loud chirp.
