Short Description: Window installation, RR canopy frame
|
|
Sanded the window joggle till smooth and dull, and cleaned inside and out with isopropyl alcohol.
Taped the inside of the fuselage, razor cut the edge, and re-drilled cleco holes through the tape.
Taped around the exterior perimeter of the joggle and back cut with a razor blade.
Superglued 5/16" slices of the cured Silpruf lines next to each cleco hole and anywhere needed to support the window. On cure, incrementally sliced with a razor blade until the window sits flush with light pressure. Added a couple of standoff and 2 cleco to make this happen.
Marked all the standoff locations and cleco on the exterior tape.
Smeared a thin layer of Silpruf to the visible gap on the back, applied what I thought was a generous amount to the joggle and pressed the window lightly into position. Should have used more. Scraped out the Silpruf around the first cleco site and installed the cleco and bridge. Repeated for the others.
Used a square scraper to level the Silpruf, working away from the cleco sites, adding more Silpruf if needed. Switched to a curved scraper and worked the joins until smooth.
Cleaned up the interior with square scraper, finishing with a finger to ensure cover.
Checked all is still nice on the outside, then pull tape 2.
These are DAY TWO tasks.
